ABOUT

Hi! I’m Janet Lee — a creative producer & strategist based in Los Angeles who builds worlds where stories shape culture and people connect in meaningful ways.

For over 15 years, I’ve helped ideas take form across media, tech, and culture — producing for organizations like Netflix, TED, VICE, WIRED, and Patreon. I care as much about the process as the product. On every project, I try to create meaningful memories with the people I work with — because we spend too much time in the hamster wheel and not enough time remembering we can make this work feel joyful and human.

I grew up in a suburb of Southern California called Diamond Bar — a place that feels like a soft-focus memory. The hills are a little too symmetrical, the sun perpetually golden, and the silence between houses says more than people do. Every strip mall tells a story: the boba shop that’s somehow survived three decades, the Korean bakery that smells like butter and walnuts, the empty parking lot where teenagers park just to feel infinite for a second. It’s not glamorous, but it’s cinematic in the way ordinary things can be when you’re paying attention.

Diamond Bar taught me how to pay attention — and that curiosity has guided everything I’ve done since. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been making things: an online zine, a newsletter from my early New York days, even a condiment brand (don’t ask, or do). Every project has been a way to explore what I believe in, what I treasure, and what gives me joy.

When I’m not producing, I’m usually thinking about food - how it grows, how to nourish people, how it can bring us together. Otherwise, I’m probably overwatering my pepper plants and collecting enough cat hair from Rusty and Dusty to start a side hustle in textiles.
